Two of the best

Here it is, nearly 3:00 a.m. on August 08. In three short hours I'll be driving to the hospital for a hernia operation. Should be fun!
Ok, not really.
But that's not what I'm here to write about, I'm here to write about marriage.
It's not something that I have any interest in myself. It's not that I don't like ladies, I just don't see the need. From a legal standpoint it makes sense, there's certainly advantages to marriage, taxes being the first. I don't have, and can't imagine a woman I would willingly marry at this point in my life. It's just not for me.
Yet, that's not what I want to pontificate on either.

There's a very specific marriage that I'm writing about. Tom's and Anna's. Tom is one of my best friends. Probably my best friend. He's the sort of man who will do anything for you. He helped me when I most need somebody; I was sick, and he took care of me (well ok, he took me to the hospital and then stood by my side while i was there). Anna's the same as Tom, she'll do the same and more for somebody, and the proof of this is the fact that she's still with Tom after 3 years, and now they're married. Tom is no saint, he has his faults, like everybody, but Anna is willing to move past those. She's been with him through some ugly times, but the fact that she has helped support him is truly remarkable. She's truly remarkable.

There are many marriages that just are. There's a head scratching puzzlement as to why two people married at times. Those marriages don't often last. There's some marriages that are beautiful, you can see that two people are right for each other, but you can see them with somebody else. There's not a wholeness to the couple. Tom's and Anna's marriage is beautiful, and uniquely so. I've never seen two people that complimented each other. I've never seen two people that belonged together so innately that you can't imagine them with anybody else. I've known Tom for 8 years, and I can't see him with anybody else. He is such a great guy, despite his flaws, that he deserved somebody amazing and he found her. I've seen Tom with out Anna, I hope I never do again.

The Marriage was so right, the wedding was amazing. It was beautiful and touching, as many weddings are, but it was.... right. The reception, with the wedding, was the best event like that I've ever attended. Tom and Anna are now in Vegas on their honeymoon, and I hope they get home safely.

There's a goodness in the air tonight, and there has been since Friday.

I hope Tom and Anna stay together for ever. Some how I know they will.

Best of luck kids, you deserve each other.
