Here's a story of two brothers. Both middle aged, living with their mother. Both of them are gun nuts, and into illicit substances. They find themselves arguing one night about religion, which is odd, because neither of them are particularly religious. The argument grows heated, as most arguments tend to do, and one brother pulls out a pistol and hits the other across the face with it. This pistol whipping knocks the brother to the ground, and now angry and blind with pain (and a swollen face) he fumbles around on a nearby table, grabs a flintlock pistol and shoots his brother in the neck. It just happened to be loaded.
The pistol whipped brother is now in jail for assault with a deadly weapon, the other brother has just been released from the hospital with a hole in his neck.
