My Country

My country is a country not just of the soldier.
But of the farmer and the rancher.
The teamster and the factory worker.
My country is a country of Navajos in the deserts
and of immigrants finding work.

When I celebrate my country's birth
I don't celebrate the soldiers sacrifice,
I celebrate the sacrifice of all the people that made this country what it is.
I celebrate those that were massacred in the name of progress
and I celebrate those that dream for a better future.

My country is a country of propaganda
and a country of amazing liberties.
I celebrate the explorers and the homebodies
the deists and the atheists
those who's ancestor's came here for freedom
and those who's ancestor's came here in chains.

All of them are my countrymen
And they are the ones who make this country.
Not just the politicians, diplomats or soldiers in the field.
And it is for them I celebrate.
