Snippitts of Illusions

i write in order to expunge my thoughts.
i need to expunge them to make room for more.
if i don't, they will simply over flow...

the clouds hang heavy in the air, it was supposed to start snowing last night. it didn't.
the clouds threaten us here in this happy little valley, but they've yet to produce.
i'm okay with that to a degree.
we need the moisture, there wil be much lamenting and teeth gnashing this spring and summer.

i need to get a camera.
yes, need is the correct word.
the impetus for this particular need is the fact that i am constantly seeing things; people, buildings, moments in time, that i want to capture, for my own melancholic musings and can't.
i'm going digital... as most people do.
but it'll be a few months yet i think.
when i get it, i intend to carry it with me.
so there ya go.

i'm in a strange mood today.
a bit of a funk maybe, i don't know.
can't put my finger on it.

a well documented weekend

first things first.
i can never remember exactly which day it is; the 6th or the 9th, so i'm going to assume the 9th.

in other news:
watched a few documentaries this weekend: three to be exact.
had a few friends over and showed "The Corporation", "OutFoxed" and.... well i'll be damned if i can remember the name of it, but there's a reason for that, the wallmart one.

The Corporation i had seen before, the others hadn't.
the only one who was rapt with attention to the screen was Tom, the other guys, well; me along with them get easily distracted.
mostly because of the movie, points of conversation drift up from what was being shown on screen.
this is only natural, these are talking movies.
these movies are geared for causing conversation.
if you haven't seen The Corporation, i strongly urge you to go get it and watch it.
it'll make you think, if it does nothing else.
and for those of you who would say it was made by left wing liberal nut jobs... well they're Canadanian, so they aren't really part of the U.S. Political System are they?

the next film was OutFoxed.
this beautiful little gem was entertaining.
about half the film seemed to be made up clips from Fox News Channel.
that's all it needed.
now i know this enterternaining little film came out last year during the height of the political campaigning that was going on... i didn't see it, i wish i had though.
the message of the movie, with out the interviews from previous FNC contributors and news casters and producers, or some of the liberals they had on was simple: FNC is the most right winged biased news organization there is.
that's it.
they are actually so right winged that they couldn't even hide thier bias for Bush during his re-election, the fact that thier top political reporters wife was campaigning for Bush didn't even seem to strike this network as unethical.
now i knew that FNC was biased, but i had no idea how bad it was.
the clips, some of the 15 second blurbs, others 2 and 3 minutes of footage is pretty damning.
i know there are naysayers out there who claim that other news channels are liberal, and swing to the left.
but i've never heard an interviewer or commentator on NPR say any as biased as what these folks on FNC had to say.

the last film was about Wal-Mart.... i'll be damned if i can remember the name of it.
it's sad, but it wasn't that impressive.
it's message was Wal-Mart is a big evil corporation that is sucking the souls out of the world.
the presentation wasn't very good.
don't get me wrong there are certainly things to be angry about in this film: the mom and pop stores going under after Wal-Mart moves into an area, sexual and racist harrasment occuring between employees and management, the way city governments kowtow to Wal-Mart and allow them into an area (though this isn't always the case).
but the presentation of this didn't have the same impact that the first two movies did.
so if you get this one, get this one before The Corporation, or just skip it, The Corporation says what needs to be said.
