One last plug for Red Light Winter.
I went and saw this show at the 4:00 p.m. showing yesterday, and in a word: Fantastic.
the script is well written, witty, gritty, and obscenely honest.
on top of a good script, some of the best acting i've seen.
the actors handled the material with such ease that despite knowing them personally, i was lost in the characters, not the actors.
Brandon Pearsons performance of Matt was well played, he handled the character in a way that was impressive, giving him the despair in the first act that he needed. you felt sorry for the character. in the second act, it's still the same Matt, but there's something a little more to him, and the audience quickly discovers how Matt's obssession has led to this facade of self confidence that you can glimpse just briefly.
Adam Larsen as Davis was brilliant. He played the character in such a way that you fall for his charm, despite him being despicable, and in the end a deplorable human being. You can see why Matt would keep Davis as a friend, especially as Mr. Larsen was able to portray the duplicitous nature of Davis so well.
Katie Taylor played Christina a bit more subdued than I would have expected. But by the end of the play, the choice and the handling of the character pays off. Yet another duplicitous role, that is handled well.
Kudos goes to the director Jessica Holt, she handled this material well, and put faith in her actors, all of which were well cast.
There is one more performance tonight at 10:30 p.m. in the Blackbox theater in the Fine Arts Building on U.S.U. compus, if you haven't seen it yet, go check it out.
